Glendale statement supporting legislators who overwhelmingly voted in favor of states’ rights, blocking the Tohono O’odham’s attempt to create a reservation within our city boundaries
“As Mayor and members of the Glendale City Council, we’d like to express our sincere appreciation to the 39 Arizona House members who today stood up against the attempt of the federal government and the Tohono O’odham Nation to silence the views of Glendale’s citizens and neighborhoods. The leadership of the House of Representatives has clearly demonstrated its strong commitment to states’ rights, the protection of state sovereignty, and the assurance that our communities are not unduly burdened by the Washington bureaucracy. We hope the Arizona Senate will join the House in supporting the rights of all property owners against the power of federal administrators whose limited focus has excluded the state and local community interests.”
