2010 Volunteer Recognition Event
Over 300 volunteers attended the 2010 Volunteer Recognition event held on April 16, 2010 at the Glendale Civic Center. Michele Schrade, Library Coordinator, and Sandra Munoz, Police Victim Assistance Coordinator, accepted the Volunteer Proclamation from Vice Mayor Martinez.
In celebration of the Glendale Centennial, volunteers with the most hours served were honored at the event. These volunteers were:
Jennie Burrell, library volunteer, with over 11, 000 hours
Mary Harris, library volunteer, with over 7,500 hours
John Edmonson, fire volunteer, with 6,189 hours
Bob Gutierrez, library volunteer, with 6,125 hours
Gordon Howard, library volunteer, with 5,263 hours
The theme this year was “Volunteers Inspire by Example." Guest speaker Melaine Britton, Mrs. Arizona, was truly an inspiration to all as she thanked the volunteers for serving their community and having the heart to serve when and where they are needed.
